IMMACULATE

Walton Young Parents

The subject of teenage pregnancy is an emotive one. Negative stereotypes perpetuated by some sections of the media focuses on the issue as being problem orientated and unacceptable in contemporary Britain. Such attention enforces discrimination prejudice and disadvantage.

Teenage pregnancy has different implications for each young woman. Pregnancy, early motherhood and age should never be grounds for discrimination.

When first established Walton Young Parents focused on equality, education and empowerment. The aim was to support young women in their role as parents.

This innovative photography project allowed young women to explore discriminatory attitudes and encouraged discussion around negative stereotypes.
